Description

The year is only five days old and I'm able to upload my first illustration, and above all one I'm pretty satisfied with! Talking about starting good into the new year...
The idea is probably not the most original one, but the picture came to my mind one night out of nowhere when I already lay in bed and I was about to fall asleep. Imagining the illustration and the painting process got me very excited and it took me a while to sleep then, so it was a clear sign for me that I should give the idea a chance. And here it is! I deliberately tried to stop myself from painting in too much detail this time, because in case of some of my recent illustrations I was very dissatisfied with the difference between sketch, which seemed very lively, and the finished painting which seemed rather dead. Et voilà, in this case I have to say that I like the finished version as much as I like the sketch, if not more even (plan succeeded!) I'm not sure though if the face for example could have needed more shading and defining, but I like the picture as it is and so I decided to declare it finished.

I also noticed that it's the first "real" illustration of my OC Mil as he appears in the modern arc. Mil loves fishes and the sea btw, so the picture itself is meant rather meant in a symbolic way which explains his uneasy expression.

Media:
Pencil, coloured Pencil, watercolours and two tiny bits of pen-white for the reflection in the eyes and signing; all done on Arches hot pressed paper

Daily Deviation!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
