First "real" picture of 2012

This year I'm not gonna make excuses with my art anymore! I really want to try out new things and I hope to reach a new level, so I'm gonna try more challenging things from now on.

This picture is for `Zombiesmile's Four Seasons Contest. I totally wanted to participate because I love the design of her characters so much! They are so beautiful ♥
I almost immediately had this scene in mind so I decided to paint Ru on a winter day (: And because I also like Anh-Soh and Prince Caspar I added them at least in the background, kind of. Ru might look like a girl, but in fact he's neither female nor male. I hope I managed to capture a bit of Ru in this picture (: The flower is supposed to be a camellia (although with very few leaves).

I didn't use a ref for the background, so yeah...there might be some things a bit off. I definitely have to practice more backgrounds this year. I tried to get the colors as accurate to the original as possible (my mum also gave her opinion and we were quite satisfied with this version XD ) and I think I'm slowly getting better with adjusting colors, too!
